From a small town in upstate New York, Kristen began playing sports early on and worked her way to becoming the New York State Track and Field champion in the pentathlon (2000, 2002). She went on to earn a track scholarship to San Diego State University where she competed as a Div-1 Heptathlete. As part of her strength and conditioning she began power lifting and kettlebell circuit training. After graduating in 2008, she became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. Kristen continued to build her training career as an SDSU assistant coach for Track and Field and by earning her Agatsu Kettlebell Certification. She then began training clients and teaching kettlebell classes at a local boxing gym. After a few short months she was hired as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Undisputed. She then traveled to Thailand to train at the Tiger Muay Thai Camp in Phuket. After three years at Undisputed she developed the idea for KOR and opened her own facility. Kristen has been featured in IDEA Fitness Journal. Kristen teaches Kettlebell and Circuit classes and is available for Private instruction.
“Coaching an athlete to their highest potential is always exciting. I love seeing a young athlete get stronger and faster in their sport while focusing on drills that will reduce unnecessary, over-use injuries. As a heptathlete, I trained for seven events at once, putting a lot of stress on my body and ultimately it took its toll. I wanted to throw in the towel, but instead I started to focus more on functional training and lower impact kettlebell lifts to build myself back up. Now, the most rewarding part of my job is to rehabilitate clients who were/are injured. Watching them go from having pain in their everyday movements to doing full-range, loaded exercises with no pain is priceless.”
